RATES
Central Pacific Editing Services charges the following rates for its proofreading, editing and consultation services. All amounts are in US Dollars and are subject to a 4.712% Hawai'i and Maui General Excise Tax. Fees are paid via Venmo unless otherwise explicitly agreed.
PROOFREADING
Proofreading services are billed at $8 per 1000 words, 50% paid upon booking and the balance due upon completion. Many authors agree that proofreading is often appropriate in multiple stages throughout the creative process. Each proofreading effort must be separately booked. Following any proofreading or editing assignment, CPES will provide you with a written summary of our findings, along with any recommendations, plus a red-lined version of your manuscript so that you can easily review all recommended changes.
EDITING
Editing services are billed at $12.00 per 1000 words, 50% paid upon booking and the balance due upon completion. Many authors agree that, like proofreading, copy editing is often appropriate in multiple stages throughout the creative process. Each editing effort must be separately booked. Following any proofreading or editing assignment, CPES will provide you with a written summary of our findings, along with any recommendations, plus a red-lined version of your manuscript so that you can easily review all recommended changes.
CONSULTATION
Writing consultation services are billed at $85 per hour, including preparation time (other than proofreading and editing which are billed at the rates noted elsewhere on this page. Preparation time consisting of simple review of a draft manuscript without proofreading or editing work is billed at $3.00 per 1000 words).
